Did you know? #29 - Skipping the Programmer Filter

Do you want to create new cues especially quickly without checking the selection of device function values to be saved? Read on in this Did you know? how you can do this.

Free after the saying "trust is good, control is better" DMXControl 3 fades in the Programmer Filter when saving a cue or a preset. In this window all device functions of the individual devices including the previously set values via the Stage View or the Control Panel can be marked with a hook, which should be saved into the scene. DMXControl 3 selects here already all devices and properties, which were changed before. Nevertheless, you get the possibility to adjust this selection again. But the additional window also causes a somewhat higher duration, which is needed for the creation of a scene. Especially if you want to create several very similar cues one after the other, this may not be beneficial.

For this DMXControl 3 offers a remedy. If you hold down the Shift key while clicking the [Add cue] button, the Programmer Filter is not shown. Instead, all values currently stored in the Programmer are copied to the cue. This includes all values that have already been saved in a previous cue if they are still stored in the Programmer. A selection of the last modified device functions is therefore explicitly not performed. However, this can be very useful, especially when tracking is deactivated, because a cue is later displayed exactly as it was stored in the Programmer at the time of saving.

If you want to hide the Programmer Filter for individual cuelists, you can do so in the properties of the respective scene list as shown in the picture. This will change the behaviour of the pressed and the not pressed Shift key. The pressed Shift-key leads in this case to the display of the Programmer Filter. Since this is one setting per cuelist, you can also treat individual cuelists differently than others. Furthermore, this setting can be globally preset for all newly created cuelists, just like all other scene list settings. This way you do not have to set this for each new cuelist.
