  • I cannot get this to work, please tell me what I am doing wrong. When removing the comment from the GoboShake area, the device will not appear in the Device Manger list.

    Editing post screwed up the code, sorry - trying to fix it.

    Code
    <gobowheel dmxchannel="3" ><goborotation dmxchannel="4"><step type="stop" mindmx="0" maxdmx="0" /><range type="cc" minval="0.1" maxval="8" mindmx="8" maxdmx="127" /><step type="stop" mindmx="128" maxdmx="135" /><range type="ccw" minval="0.1" maxval="8" mindmx="136" maxdmx="255" /></goborotation><!--<goboshake dmxchannel="3" /><step type="open" caption="Open" mindmx="0" maxdmx="0" />          <step type="gobo" caption="Stars" mindmx="14" maxdmx="14" >            <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="116" maxdmx="135" />          </step>          <step type="gobo" caption="Cross" mindmx="28" maxdmx="28" >            <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="136" maxdmx="155" />          </step>          <step type="gobo" caption="Spiralgraph" mindmx="42" maxdmx="42" >            <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="156" maxdmx="175"          </step>          <step type="gobo" caption="Meteor" mindmx="56" maxdmx="56" >            <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="176" maxdmx="195" />          </step>          <step type="gobo" caption="Blackhole" mindmx="70" maxdmx="70" >           <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="196" maxdmx="215" />          </step>          <step type="gobo" caption="Triangle" mindmx="84" maxdmx="84" >            <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="216" maxdmx="235" />          </step>          <step type="gobo" caption="Line of dots" mindmx="98" maxdmx="98" >            <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="236" maxdmx="255" />          </step>         </goboshake>-->      <wheelrotation>        <range type="cw" mindmx="220" maxdmx="255" minval="0,1" maxval="2" />      </wheelrotation>    </gobowheel>

    If I copy an existing DDF - Brightlight - Indigo 150, the device 'works', gobo buttons show up, how do I shake?

  • The Kernel tells you where the error is:

    Code
    2014-01-13 18:18:10,410 [3] WARN org.dmxc.lumos.Kernel.Devices.Factory.AbstractDeviceFactory - Warning while loading DDF: Thread9270_Eddiie.xmlSystem.Xml.XmlException: Name cannot begin with the '< ' character, hexadecimal value 0x3C. Code
    <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="156" maxdmx="175"

    should be

    Code
    <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="156" maxdmx="175" />

    If you use an editor with syntax highlighting these kind of errors are much easier to spot.

    Dennis

  • Ah that was a typo in pasting the code. It was OK in the DDF.

    Taking advice I opened in XMLNotepad and found errors, also see them in the Kernel window! Fixed.

    Now the problem moves to inside DMXControl3, error window -

    Device Manager -> Add Device -> Select my DDF ->
    "There has been an Error when loading the DDF <file name>.xml:
    There has to be at least one range / step with proper values set."

    <goboshake dmxchannel="3" >
    <step type="open" caption="Open" mindmx="0" maxdmx="0" />

    <step type="gobo" caption="Stars" mindmx="14" maxdmx="14" >
    <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="116" maxdmx="135" />
    </step>

    <step type="gobo" caption="Cross" mindmx="28" maxdmx="28" >
    <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="136" maxdmx="155" />
    </step>

    <step type="gobo" caption="Spiralgraph" mindmx="42" maxdmx="42" >
    <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="156" maxdmx="175" />
    </step>

    <step type="gobo" caption="Meteor" mindmx="56" maxdmx="56" >
    <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="176" maxdmx="195" />
    </step>

    <step type="gobo" caption="Blackhole" mindmx="70" maxdmx="70" >
    <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="196" maxdmx="215" />
    </step>

    <step type="gobo" caption="Triangle" mindmx="84" maxdmx="84" >
    <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="216" maxdmx="235" />
    </step>

    <step type="gobo" caption="Line of dots" mindmx="98" maxdmx="98" >
    <step handler="goboshake" mindmx="236" maxdmx="255" />
    </step>

    </goboshake>

    Honestly, I do not understand minval= and maxval= I typically do not include them and let DMXControl3 finger them out.
    I've tried adding them and it does not help.

    Is there a good working DDF with a Gobo shake that works I can use as another example?
    Maybe I should try the DDF creator for this light.

    I also cannot get the dimmer to work correctly. They put too many things on one channel..
    Strobe, Dimmer, Shutter, other things can't use.

  • Code
    <goboshake dmxchannel="3" >

    should be

    Code
    <goboshake dmxchannel="3" />

    However if gobo and goboshake share the same channel you should omit dmxchannel="3".

    It should look somewhat like

    Code
    <gobowheel dmxchannel="0">
      <goboshake />
      <step type="open" caption="Open" mindmx="0" maxdmx="13" />
      <step type="gobo" caption="Gobo 1" mindmx="14" maxdmx="27">
        <range handler="goboshake" mindmx="112" maxdmx="127" minval="0.1" maxval="3" />
      </step>
          ...
    </gobowheel>
