  • Hi and wellcome to this forum,
there are two tools for music detection in DMXControl, the "BeatTool" and the "Sound Analyzer". In the "BeatTool", you can choose from different input-signals and this tool sends a beat-signal to all Tools in DMXC. You can use it e.g. in the "effectsequencer" when you change the "effectsettings" to "beat-triggered".

But I don't know how the "Sound Analyzer" works (because I don't use it). Here is a link to the Wiki-documentation of this tool and maybe some other guys from the forum could help you out.
    regards
    JP
P.S.: Sry for my bad english ;).

  • Any way I was unable to start a chase or a cue when audio track started.
I need to start a chase when audio track (winamp) starts and to stop the exact chase when there is no music or the song ends.
    Is there any solution?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi!

Normally thats what all the users want to have. Continue even when there is no signal. Sorry, but I can't remember a way around that. :(

The only way I know is, to use the audioplayer. With the audioplayer
you can set the start/stop mark for your song at the music frame
    you want.
Audioplayer works also alone or together with Winamp.

  • Hi,
    thanks for reply.

Using audioplayer we can`t use sound analyser.
In other hand I can use audioplayer (if not using sound analyser) in stand alone mode,
but in "controlled by winamp" mode it`s impossible to set mark to start/stop any cue/chaser.
The song name is scrolling in the audioplayer bar, but the waveform bar is inactive.
    Is there any solution?

    Hi

I've figured out how to use the standalone player in the "AudioPlayer" for timed sequences, while also simultaneously getting this track to get analysed by winamp and generate the output necessary for the spectrum analyser function to work in dmxcontrol.

I'm only just learning dmxcontrol it's possibilities appear to be endless, what to do with the spectrum analyser once it's arrived is currently beyond me.

Ok to setup winamp to analyse whats being played out of the sound card by some other program in our case dmxcontrols standalone player you'll need a couple of plugins for winamp.

The first one enables winamp to redirect the output to a special url called line//: similar to winamps linein//: function.

The plug in is available here - http://www.winamp.com/plugin/linein-plugin-v1-80/84040

Documentation is available here - http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/…sics/index.html

You'll need to open the url in winamp by pressing control-L and then entering line:// (you don't need all the fancy dev= stuff)

Just select the recording input as Stereo Mixer in my volume control properties - anyway the second link gives screen dumps

Now press play on winamp and anything you start to play out of the computer using windows player or the dmx control standalone player will be processed by winamp, you may have to restart the output virtualisation to dmxcontrol vblink or exit the program and restart for winamp to get it's act together. Ok the next problem winamp will now be sending it's processed audio back out of the sound card , generating a circular echo, which just turns into complete audio mayhem.

So enter the next plug in which sends the output of winamp to nowhere or a to a black hole.

There are two versions of this plug in both called NOP plugin. One is available here - http://www.winamp.com/plugin/null-output-plugin/28451, the other one is here from an old copy of the shoutcast site - http://web.archive.org/web/2006021900…ad/out_null.zip

The one that worked correctly for me was the older shoutcast one - the newer one from the winamp website - added a 10 second delay or thereabouts between the sound being played and it being analysed by dmxcontrol which wasn't helpful the older beta one from shoutcast analyses in sync with the sound. I've included the link to the newer one in case it works the other way around in your setup.

You then need to select the NOP plugin as the output plugin. I also had to exit winamp and re-enter and press play to get winamp to get it's act together.

That should be it, :) Now when you play something using the standalone player, winamp will analyse the output and send the data throught th e dmxcontrol spectrum analyser while remaining winamp stays hushed. Any problems let me know and I'll try to oblige.

  • I mis-typed the last sentence.

  • Hello,
at last I`ve done You have adviced me.
Winamp sends its data, but the signal level is too low. There is no way to change it or I don`t know how to do this.
Data analizing do not react to "Sound2light on" switch when the signal cames from inline.
Anyway thank You for your time.
