  • Can someone help please, I must be missing the point. I believe the ENTTEC Open DMX USB is fully support by DMX Control. I have installed the drivers on our lighting PC XP - No issues installs fine and XP is happy with it.

    Within DMX Control I can't find the right plugin (Out) to use. We have 20 interface options but ENTTEC open DMX USB is not listed, looking closely there is no installed *.out.dll which every other interface plugin has?

    Where do I find a *.out.dll for this interface?

    Thanks

    The plugin is (unfortunately) called "Next Generation Afterglow" as that interface is basically the same. As there were some problems with the plugin, I have recently written a new one which I would recommend to install. Have a look at this thread (german):
    Neues Ausgabeplugin für Enttec OpenDMX und Klone
    Basically you only have to unpack the zip archive into the DMXControl program dir.

  • Stefan
    Thanks for your help. I have installed the software without any issues. The output plugin call Enttec OpenDMX/JMS USB2DMX seems to be working fine. I haven't played with the frame rate it's set to 25 at the moment and seems to work. I need to spend sometime doing some test scenes but to date it works without issue.

    Thanks Again
    I am looking forward to when the ENTTEC Ethernet/DMX output plugin is available.

  • We are trying to use a Virtua Via USB/DMX box.

    I put your new software into the main DMCX folder in my home PC and signals were seen by the box.

    I put the same software into the theatre PC and got a message "Error 48: file not found OpenDMXDLL.dll", even though this file is present.

    I tried moving the files to the plugin directory but get various other errors which I guess is because they shouldn't be there.

    What can be the problem?

  • Hi!

    Which operating system is running on both computers? Perhaps you have a problem with the rights (WinVista/7)?
    Just a guess!
    The plugin directory is indeed wrong for output plugins. The main DMXControl folder is right.

  • Thank you for your response - sorry for the reply in answering, I haven't got the hang of these forums yet.

    Both PCs are using Windows XP. The test PC (this one!) is connected to the internet and is fully up to date with patches. The target PC in the theatre will not be quite so up to date because it is not connected to the internet. All files have to be loaded via disc or memory stick.

    I noticed that by accident, the test PC was running DMXC V2.10.0 but the target PC was running V2.10.2. I updated the target PC to V2.10.6 but the problem remained. I then uninstalled DMXC from the target PC and reinstalled V2.10.0 like the test PC. When I copied the plugin files I got this message:
    ===========
    OpenDMXdll.dll has extra information attached to it that might be lost if you continue copying. The contents of the file will not be affected. Information that might be lost includes:l

    Document Summary info
    ===========

    Of course, I continued copying - there's no obvious alternative - but the original error message remains.

    Any ideas?

    Regards
    Steve

  • Hi!

    Uhhh. Sorry, thats where my ideas end now because I don't own a OpenDMX-type interface. Did you try the outputfiles Stefan posted on his first message in Neues Ausgabeplugin für Enttec OpenDMX und Klone? There should be no such message with the "extra information" if you take it right out of the zip-achive.
    Where is the installation on the target PC? Just standard path (c:\...) or anything exotic?

  • Open Thanks anyway.

    Actually the hardware doesn't matter. The error message is produced before the hardware is accessed - I know this because I keep transferring the USB-DMX box between PCs.

    You are right about the 'extra information' message. I tried copying it directly from the unzipped package and there was no message (but the problem remains!)

    It is one of the outputfiles that Stefan posted on his first message in Neues Ausgabeplugin für Enttec OpenDMX und Klone that is causing the problem so I have emailed him in the hope of some guidance.

    The installation paths on both PCs are the same, i.e. the default c:\program files\DMXControl
