We proudly present: The updated Forum - edition 2025
You may have noticed that our forum has changed slightly. The reason is that we installed the latest version of our forum software Woltlab Suite Forum in the night from Thursday to Friday. The update brings some new features, but was also necessary because the previously used version would only have received security updates until fall 2025.
One of the most noticeable changes is the new design. We have tried to keep our customisations, especially the use of our association colors, as much as possible. Irrespective of this, the following new functions are available:
- The forum style now supports automatic switching between light and dark mode. In the previous version, we still used two separate styles for this. For you, this means that there is no longer a “Change style” button at the bottom of the page. Instead, the new style now defaults to the style of the browser you are using to access the forum. However, it is still possible to explicitly select the light or dark mode in the user settings.
- The forum list has received a design update and now shows two threads per area instead of just one in the desktop view. In addition, a preview of the last reply to a thread is displayed when you move the mouse over the link.
- The editor that you use to create a new post has received a major update and should now be much more stable and easier to use when formatting text. Pasting text from the clipboard has also been improved with the new editor.
- The overview of recent activities - which can be found under Members > Recent activities - has been redesigned.
- The member list has been given a design update. For example, your own cover images are now also displayed in the overview.
In addition to the innovations and changes mentioned here as examples, there are also numerous improvements that have been made “under the hood”.
If we find any potential for optimisation in the next few days, there may be one or two tweaks to the design, but there should be no major changes. Please let us know if you find any minor display errors, poorly legible text or other problems in the comments to this news.
Overall, however, we are now well positioned again so that you and we can continue to browse the forum and exchange ideas. So no matter how you use our forum - we hope you enjoy it!
