The DMXControl 3 interface cannot speak, of course, but it is able to interact with you in different languages. And in the future, this will not only be in English and German, but with the release of DMXControl 3.3.0 in a third language: for the first time, we will also offer the interface in French.

How did it come to this? Already some time ago, more exactly in the context of a developer meeting in January 2021, we asked around in the team a little bit, who had to do so with which languages in the last years or also still has. What at the time only involved a small degree of seriousness actually developed a certain momentum within a few hours. After all, our survey revealed that we are quite diverse in terms of language technology. Triggered by these open statements, some of us had the personal ambition to get our own language skills out of the depths of our heads again or to educate ourselves a bit further. All in all, it was a very welcome distraction, because we had to work on a completely different level, but in the end, we were able to move the project forward.

As with many software projects, the translation into further languages is also with DMXControl 3 a community project. Since not everyone speaks all languages in the world, but many people speak one or two of them even better, the topic of translation is often divided among several people. This is also the case with us. With the start of the German translation, we have an online tool in use. With the help of this tool, you can not only help us, but you should also translate DMXControl 3 into other languages. The same also applies to already existing translations. Here we come back to French. Possibly there are different formulations at the one or other place, which could be translated nevertheless again better, because someone speaks French daily.

In the tool you then suggest translations for the further texts or corresponding optimizations, which will be inserted after a review.
