Did you know? #26 - I create a rainbow

Color gradients can be created very quickly with the help of the fanning operators. But do you also know the other design possibilities?

As is well known, by entering 255;0;0 > 0;0;255 in the Color field of the device control, you can quickly create beautiful gradients on device groups or on a selection of devices. But did you know that DMXControl 3 offers you even more design possibilities?

The secret is hidden in the device control. Because the field for the color can not only work in RGB color mixing mode as shown by default. Here the mode can also be switched to CMY or HSV color mixing - either with the middle mouse button or you change the mode via the context menu to the color field. You know the HSV color mixing from the color picker. With the help of the values for Hue and Saturation you can determine the position of the point in the color circle. The value Value is the third required value and determines the brightness of the selected color. If you want to read more about this, please have a look at the article HSV color space at Wikipedia. There you can also find some graphics which explain all on visual way.

In DMXControl 3 the HSV color mixing opens completely new possibilities. If you enter for example 0 > 360 into the field for Hue and set the values for Value and Saturation to 1, the selected devices will light up in a static rainbow as you can see in the screenshot. The second and third rows show what happens when the Value and Saturation values are fanned - the dimmer is set to 100% in all cases. But that's not all: If parameter masters are used to change the parameters of effects, it becomes especially varied. This is because the well-known 1D effects, such as the Sawtooth effect, can also be applied to individual values such as Hue. If you enter {Parameter Master 1} > {Parameter Master 2} in the Phase parameter and leave the Amplitude value at 360, you can create beautiful dynamic gradients. Similar gimmicks are also possible with the values for Value and Saturation.

Have fun creating new light scenes! Your :dmxclogo DMXControl Team :dmxclogo
