Illuminating a church is very impressive the most of the time, but due to the dimensions of the building and the required light equipment it is also often a very complex project. So the current project to illuminate the "Stadtkirche Stuttgart-Vaihingen" needs a long preparation time. Building up all light equipment needs already two days. The idea about creating this light show was born in March 2018 during the reopening ceremony of the church after a long closing time due to renovation works. At this ceremony, the performance of the youth church choir was also illuminated. All guests were so excited about the complete show that the decision was to bring more focus to the illumination of the church at a future event. This event should be the night of the open churches in Stuttgart, Germany at the evening of Whitsunday. The Stadtkirche Stuttgart-Vaihingen joined this event below the headline "church in another light". At this event all performances were lighted in different colours. Highlight was a ten minutes light show related to the background of Withsun.
For the light show were used about 40 led spotlights of different types and six moving head. All devices were controlled by DMXControl 3 including an experimental tool for a light show synchronised to the music. Using DMXControl 3 at this event the first time was a big benefit in all kind of views. Creating a lot of complex effects with DMXControl 3 was much easier and much faster. So there were only two weeks needed for programming the complete light show. Also the repositioning of some moving heads and other final improvements in the light show after installing all devices were realized much faster. The best benefit was the easy replacement of two moving heads because the first ones did not work right. All in all, the visitors were very excited about the whole event with their different performances. So, this event was a great success in general.
