Developer News - 26_CW36 - QRM and Betas
By these updates, we mean, first, our QRM meeting, and second, a new beta version. Both updates came in relatively quick succession over the past few days.
Anyone who’s been following our news a bit may have noticed that the topic of QRM meetings hasn’t been as prominent lately. There was actually a good reason for that: recently, it really didn’t make much sense to hold such a meeting in the usual, detailed format we’d used up to that point. With regard to DMXControl 3.3.0, the main reason was that the feature set for this version had been finalized, and no new features or changes were being added to the software. Of course, there were also new features in DMXControl 3.3.1 and 3.3.2. However, we discussed these in several small sessions or during our beta tester meetings and gathered feedback in the process. Consequently, it was no longer worthwhile to present the new features collectively in a QRM meeting.
With the upcoming version of DMXControl 3 - namely, DMXControl 3.3.3 - things looked different this time. While a few features had already been previewed in small groups beforehand, so much had accumulated since the release of DMXControl 3.3.2 that it was finally time for another proper QRM meeting. The main focus of this QRM meeting was on the new features and numerous detail improvements in various windows. In addition to the technical overhaul, a few new features were also introduced into the windows. Accordingly, after the initial presentation, we discussed design and workflow - and even engaged in a bit of philosophical musing. For now, though, we’ll leave the specifics of what was discussed uncommented - after all, we wouldn’t want to spoil the anticipation of what interesting features DMXControl 3.3.3 will include.
All in all, however, these were helpful discussions that will now be evaluated by the development team and then implemented based on these results.
Shortly after the QRM meeting wrapped up, a second, equally exciting development followed: the launch of the beta test for DMXControl 3.3.3. Once again, not much time had passed since the release of the previous version, so the first beta version of DMXControl 3.3.3 was released a few days ago. This time, the beta test is taking place within a closed group. This allows us to test the latest features in a much more targeted manner, since they operate entirely within the software itself. With DMXControl 3.3.2, the situation was somewhat different, particularly with the new Art-Net plugin. There was a significant “individual factor” involved here, as everyone’s network infrastructure is different and many of you use different Art-Net nodes. So, to evaluate whether the Art-Net plugin works as intended, we needed a larger data set. We’re now eager to see what the upcoming tests will reveal. In any case, the second beta version is already in the works.
We’ll give you a little sneak peek when the time comes. So stay tuned for what’s still to come. But here’s a question for you: do you have any idea which windows we might be talking about? Our beta testers and association members should, of course, ignore this question - keyword: NDA. ![]()
