Hello,
I'm pretty sure that my request could be resolved by another "way of thinking" (and there's many with DMXC) but I did not found it ... let me explain.
- I have 9 fixtures for my back lights, trad projectors with only dimmer control
- All fixtures have DMX channel, I can control each one
- I created a device group
- and I'm using a chaser effect with bouncing in order to have the following sequence:
- first beat: first fixture full light,
- second beat: first fixture off and second fixture (blue one) full light,
- third beat: second fixture off and third fixture full light,
- ... classic chaser
- my chaser duration property is set to {SpeedMaster 1} and I can set speed BPM by the Master window with SpeedMaster 1
- at this step, everything is ok, chaser effect works well
- but I would like a fade instead of an immediate light off
- I tried to use the Fade property of the chaser effect but the fade value is added to the total duration: total duration = duration + fade
- Example:
- my {SpeedMaster 1} is set to 120 bpm, chaser duration is defined to {SpeedMaster 1}, = 500ms
- I want a fade with a duration quarter of a beat duration, {SpeedMaster 1} / 4, = 125ms
- If I set chaser fade to 125ms, the chaser cycle will be 625ms duration, lights are not synced with the beat
- I must set chaser duration to 500 - 125 : 375 and chaser fade to 125ms
And that's here that my question come: is there a way to write "complex" formulas for property value ?
It's possible to perform some basic operations on a parameters (example: "{SpeedMaster 1:-125}") and it could resolve my request but it's only ok for 120bpm, not dynamic.
Is it possible to
- use a parameter as variable, example: 80 - {ParameterMaster 1}
- create "complex" formulas, such as for my case:
- Chaser duration could be: {SpeedMaster 1} - ({SpeedMaster 1} / 4)
- and chaser fade: {SpeedMaster 1} / 4 (which can be performed by {SpeedMaster 1:/4})
And finally, what could be "the best" way to answer my request ? Cue with beat triggers ?
