  • Hi all,

    I have a DMX switch pack which I am using to control a fan. I would like to be able to switch this on and off from DMXC3, but I don't want it to be affected by things like the blackout button or 'Clear all'.

    So I would like it to operate in a similar way to the fog control. In fact, a second fog control would also achieve what I need if that was possible.

    Is this possible, and if so, what is the best way to do it?

    Any help much appreciated!

    Phil

  • Hi,

    the first part of your question is achievable by using a device with another property than the dimmer. DMXControl 3 even know the channel property "fan", so you can define it in the following way:

    XML
    <fan dmxchannel="0">
      <step val="false" mindmx="0" maxdmx="127" />
      <step val="true" mindmx="128" maxdmx="255" />
    </fan>

    Then you can switch it on and off like a normal switch, but it is not affected by the blackout-button.

    For the second part of your question just save the property values you want to be unaffected by "Clear all" with the value you prefer in a cuelist and run it. Then this value is active even if you hit the "Clear all" button. You can even assign a ParameterMaster on an intensity fan (not the switchable above!) by entering {ParameterMaster 1} in the Device Control. If you save this in the cuelist, then you can control the fan speed by this master, as long as the cuelist runs.

    I hope, this info helps.
