  • Hello,

Fixtures that are not used i want to remove from the project. Removing a fixture is not working and in some case the program is not responding.

Is there another way to delete fixtures from the project other than right mouse click and delete fixture/device?

  • Hello Roland,

before I describe more, I would like to ask the following: are the fixtures, they you want to delete from your project, used in one or more device groups or in one or more already existing cues? If this is right, usually DMXControl 3 ask you first, what should be done. For that, the window "reference error" will be shown. In that window, you need to select, that the device should be deleted from the related device group or what should happens with the cues, where the device was used.

So did you have seen this window when deleting? If not, maybe it was opened in the backrgound or at an other display.

So far these hints doesn't help, please attach you project. That makes everything more easier to assist, when we are talking about the same. :)

    Best regards, Stefan

  • Hello Stefan,

I have seen the window when deleting. Also defined what to do with it. (delete all references)
By the way it is the fixture SMOKE i try to delete ;)

After i have tried to delete the fixture smoke and save the project there is an error ; error saving the project.

Earlier in the project i deleted the fixture laser. That was succeeded. But when i first try to delete fixture smoke then it is not possible to delete any other fixture.

As long as i don't touch the fixture smoke everything works fine.

  • Hello Roland,

so... I have got the solution. You created an interesting constellation of your three presets, where everywhere the fixture "smoke" is used. And this constellation creates the problem, why you can't delete the device without any error.

I helped DMXC, while I removed the fixture "smoke" from the "New preset" manually, before I tried to delete it again. For the manual removal, you edit the preset in the programmer. Then you select the preset in the preset window and replace it. In the window "programmer filter", you uncheck the smoke device. When you confirm that, DMXC3 ask you to delete the containing references to the other presets - again with the reference error window. When you remove there the references, you can delete the device afterwards as you are used to do that normally.

When you save the project afterwards, close and reload them, DMXC will update the list of your presets and remove the device "smoke" in the column "devices" in the preset window.

I hope, you can follow my instructions so far and you will be finally also successful like me. If not, don't be hesitate to ask, when there is something not explained well enough.

    Best regards, Stefan.
