  • Hi

I'm using version 2 to control the lighting for a band and we want to include some moving head spot lights.

Does anyone have any experience of doing this and can you tell us what spots you are using and how you made them work with DMX Control

    Thanks

    Will H

  • Hi,

I have used some moving heads with DMXControl 2. The usual way is as follows: As with all Devices, you need a DDF. If is not in our DDF Library (https://dmxc.org/ddfs) you have to create a new one. In DMXControl 2 there are so called movement scenes. In there you can create new movements like circles or own ones. DMXControl 2 recognizes the Pan and Tilt channels and you can select them in the movement scene. To organize all movement scenes, you can add one effect for each movement scene in the effect sequencer. You should also add all those effects to a effect group by adding the group name in round brackets behind the effect name, e.g. "MHs Circle (MH_Movements)").

About the MHs: There are plenty of different moving heads with individual pros and cons. For example, I use two Futurelight DMH-160 (beside two Futurelight EYE-7 Washer) for small school and hobby theater and for light shows. We had the DMH-160 (10 pc. in total) at our last annual DMXControl Convention at the HTW in Berlin. Here is the Video with the heads in action:

There is also another video of my last Christmas light show with those moving heads in action (the two ones beside the altar)

Those heads are very bright and have nice gobos and colors. But there are also moving heads which are less expensive and then you can maybe buy some more of those. So you can see that there is no general recommendation because this is very special to your situation (stage size, budget, desired effects, ...).

    Regards
