  • Hello all,

    I am looking into buying 4 chauvet rouge r3 spots although I have noticed the DMX plot has the gobo shake in banks for each gobo on a single channel and have run into this in the past with another fixture and just didn't worry about it but with such a nice fixture I want to make sure it's possible with DDF creator. Can anyone assist in how to build this DDF or already has one? I can send through the PDF DMX plot but it's also very easy to find online.

    Any help is highly appreciated!

    Approved the thread.
  • Hi,

    the DDFCreator can add the gobo shake function to the same channel as the gobos. However in the current version of the DDFCreator it is much easier to add this functionality in the DDF itself by hand. Just open the DDF in a text editor of your choice (e.g. Notepad++) and look for the gobowheel-block by searching for the <gobowheel dmxchannel="xxx"> tag (the "xxx" is the channel count of the gobo wheel). Now, you have to do two things: At first, add <goboshake /> right below the <gobowheel....>-tag. Second, you search for the following tags inside the gobowheel-block:

    Code
    <step type="gobo" mindmx="xxx" maxdmx="yyy" val="zzz.png" caption="Gobo x" />

    Those tags are the definitions of the different gobo slots. In order to add the goboshake functionality, you have to change it into the following schema:

    Code
    <step type="gobo" mindmx="xxx" maxdmx="yyy" val="zzz.png" caption="Gobo x">
        <range handler="goboshake" mindmx="aaa" maxdmx="bbb" minval="0.4" maxval="5" />
    </step>

    Mindmx is always the first (lower) dmxvalue of the slot, maxdmx the last one. Minval defines the minimum speed of the shake in hertz (how often the gobo shakes in one second). Maxval is the maximum shakespeed (in hertz too).

    I hope, this will help you to define the shake funktionality.

    Regards

  • Hi JPK,

    Thank you very much for this info.

    I think I have a bit of a loose understanding of this now. Once I create the code I might post it here for review if I have any dramas. Would you be willing to have a look over it once I build it?

    Thanks so much again.

    Andrew

  • Hi,

    yes, just post it here when it is built and I will take a look on it :) If you have any further questions while building it, just ask here too :)
