  • Hi all,

I'm planning to use Mediacenter for an event and now I'm trying to set up the whole environment (e.g. Lights, Sound and Images) at home.

Everything is working fine when I try to load and play images (gif and jpg) and sounds. When I try to load powerpoint presentation I'm not able to obtain anything from the mediaserver except errors on the mediacenter saying "Default: ppload "p.ppt" -> Load failed". (I have attached a screen shot).

I have tried to obtain something installing at first powerpoint viewer, then thinking that ppt viewer could cause problem installing powerpoint into the target pc.

    Do you have any suggestion?

    Many thanks

    Luca

  • I worked with Mediacenter some time ago and found it as well difficult to deal with PPT.
I had sometimes the problem that the ppt did not give back the focus to the MediaCenter application after ending or that PPT stayed behind the black empty screen of MediaCenter.

What Version of PPT do you use (where you design and where you present)?
I use 2007 (not the viewer).
With this, it works. (I can not remember whether I finally used PPT or PPS (Pack and go).
When starting media center, it loads Powerpoint in the background - you should see it in the tasklist of your PC.

It seems tricky and depending on a lot of variables in your MediaCenter PC.

I assume, the rest of the setup works (all paths are correct...)

  • Per your suggestion I have checked programs running in the background and, yes, powerpoint is running.
If I switch from mediaserver to powerpoint, load manually the presentation, select slide show, then switch back to mediaserver showing the black panel, then start send commands from mediacenter, the load event on the mediacenter fails giving the reported error but Next, Previous and Clear buttons/actions are working fine....
    I have 2010 installed.
The only solution (workaround) I have found, was to save each slide into a gif or jpg file and load each of them into the playlist and walk through them as if they are single pictures to be shown.
Next step will be to control the mediacenter remotely through DMXC... and this seems not easy too.
Does Anybody used the mediacenter plugin and have some experience to share?
    Many thanks for your help
    Luca

  • I assume this to be an issue for the developer. I assume there is a difference in how PPT 2007 and PPT 2010 accept commands.
My installation with PPT 2007 runs fine (except that I always have to try if ppt or pps is the correct filetype... I use the system not regularly enough to remember this...)

  • Hi!

I used the Mediacenter some years ago for the big projection screen behind of a show.
If you want to use videos, keep in mind, that you have to load them before you can play them. And this means: you have to wait some seconds before giving the "play" command. The system has to open the files completely before it accepts a "play".
And if I remember right, some channels must be set to 0 before giving the next command. I made a set of scenelists and followed the article of Arne (http://www.dmxcontrol.de/wiki/Ansteueru…_%28Tutorial%29). Sorry, I think it is not available in english. But it says:
When you give commands without using the DDF (thats the case in scene list, chaser tool, etc.), then you always have to record a "no command" (Steuerbefehl: "kein Befehl") before giving the command. Thats because the plugin only recognises the change in the command-channel.

    I hope that helps.
