Hi all — I recently experimented with DMXControl to operate a stepper motor for small stage effects and wanted to share my findings. DMXControl works well as a central controller when combined with a DMX-to-stepper interface (e.g., a microcontroller or dedicated driver). I mapped DMX channels to motor functions: speed, direction, step count, and hold. The setup allowed smooth, repeatable movements synchronized with lighting cues. Key tips: use a motor driver that supports current limiting, add end switches for safety, and ensure the DMX refresh rate matches your motion requirements to avoid jitter. Overall, this approach is affordable and flexible for props and kinetic scenery. Happy to share wiring diagrams and channel maps if anyone’s interested.
