  • Hi!

When I start the Kernel and the GUI separately, (clicking Kernel and then GUI in the start window), then I can't connect the Client to the Server. In the GUI under the connection menu, a page appears where I have 3 options:

    Code
    _________________________________________________
    | | | |
    | Clear	|	Autoposition	| [textbox] Connect	|
    |_______|___________________|___________________|

What should I write into the textbox, to connect? Why doesn't a connect window appear, as shown in the tutorial? In the Kernel with the "status" command I get the NetworkID. If I type that into the textbox it doesn't work.

When started together from the launcher, it works.

    Thank you for any help!

  • Hi,

ahhh, the thing is, that since DMXControl 3.3.0 there are three programs instead of two: The GUI, the Kernel and the Umbra. The later one is the DMXControl 3 Network Broaker. It's task is to distribute all network mesages to their respective target devices. That's why you have to start also the Umbra for a propper connection. The Button in the upper part of the Launcher actually starts all three programs. That's why the connection works quite fine with it.

About the NetworkID: Yeah, you are right, the panel now looks different because we replaced the whole network part of DMXControl 3 with the version 3.3.0. However, we did not have time yet to update the documentation though. This NetworkID is actually an ID with which all DMXControl 3.3.0+ components can find each other. So the Umbra will broadcast its ID and the Kernel and the GUI will automatically connect to it as long as their NetworkID is identical to the one of the Umbra. And yes, you can change the ID to your own discretion so that you can then have multiple separate DMXControl 3 Networks in parallel. I hope, this explanation brought light into those questions :) If not, feel free to ask further / more specific questions about it.
