  • Hi everyone

I am relatively new to DMXControl3 and have done a couple of theatre projects using the cuelists.

However, for an upcoming production I would also like to be able to use chases, if possible. I would definitely be using the cuelists, so is it possible to run chases while in a cuelist? And how would I do that? Could I set up cues to run the chases, and then break out of them when needed?

    Thanks in advance,

    Thomas

  • Hi,

there are multiple ways to run chases und multiple forms of them. The easiest way would be using an effect or a chaser filter from the "effects and filter" window. You can open it via the top menu item "Windows" => "Effects and Filters" in DMXControl 3. Now, you can drag&drop the effect / filter of your choice on the desired device property in the device control. Or you double-click on an effect / filter and select the desired device property in the appearing context menu. To have a simple chaser effect, just use the chaser filter and drop it on the dimmer property of the device group of choice. If you want more like a wave, drop a sine effect on the dimmer property, open this property in the device control and open there the effect property. Then enter "0<360" in the phase. This is called a fanning. With it, you tell DMXControl 3 to evenly distribute the phase between 0 and 360 to all devices in this device group. With the phase, you control the "position" on the sine wave of each device. In our German wiki, there is an article for the effects and filter window with a preview of most of the filter and effects. You can find it here: https://wiki-de.dmxcontrol-projects.org/index.php?titl…d_Filters_DMXC3. In Addition, there is also an article with a preview of all existing fannings and also a preview of them: https://wiki-de.dmxcontrol-projects.org/index.php?title=Fanning_DMXC3

If you have applied such an effect or filter, you can save it in a cue like you would normally save static values. There is also another way by using a second cuelist, but I would say, we look at it, if you can not use the effects or filter in your case. I hope, this information helps you to find a solution. If not, feel free to ask further questions :)
