Here is the situation:
The show starts at 5:00pm on Friday
I have two ADJ X-Scan+ scanners on order (for over a month)
They MAY come in today or tomorrow, or may not.
If they dont, My supplier will loan me two Martin Mania SCX500 scanners.
I have loads of scenes set where the scanners must be in a specific position.
I dont want to maintain two copies of the entire show, one for the Manias and one for the X-Scans.
Can I program both the ADJ and the Martins in the same scene?
The ADJ's will have different DMX addresses than the Martins (obviously), i.e. the Martins start at ch50 and the ADJ's start at ch100
In theory, The system shouldnt care that the ADJ's or the Martins are not hooked up. Any commands to the fixtures that arent there should just be ignored.
Could there be a problem doing it this way?
When the X-Scans come in, before the next show, I'l just delete the Manias and all should be back to normal.
BTW, I HATE the Martins, I had TWO fail at the last show, one the fan siezed (20 hours on it, good job I noticed as I was rigging before the show), The replacement actualy dimmed to 50% whenever the mirror was facing down by 50% (entire optics out of alignment) That one was brand new out of the box and I had no time to swap it out.
I had to do the whole 3 day show running the other at 50% to match it whenever the bad one was tilted down. Very bad as they are not that bright to start with and its tilted down the entire time its used on the stage.
I really expected that Martin would be better than ADJ and Chauvet but I havent had an ADJ or Chauvet fixture fail on me, (yet). I guess that the low end Martins are like the low end JBL speakers, you pay a bit extra for the name and get the junk made in the same "cheap labour" factory as every other manufacturer uses.
Thanks, Christopher
