Hello Stefan,
Here are the log files and the project file as requested.
After reflecting further, I think the issue may be related to how I structured my presets. Specifically, I was creating presets that depend on other presets (“mother presets”). It seems that this approach is not fully supported in DMXControl 3.3.1.
When I try to modify a “mother” preset, I occasionally encounter the Reference Error window, and even using “Merge” doesn’t reliably work—the window closes and immediately reopens. This makes it difficult to maintain an organized hierarchy of presets.
It’s unfortunate, because I had hoped to use presets as combinations of multiple smaller presets, which would allow me to manage repeated lighting elements efficiently in a theater show context.
For context, my workflow is:
- I have multiple cues (around 47) in a show.
- Many cues share common lighting tables (groups of devices, color ratios, positions) with slight variations.
- I want to be able to adjust the base preset on the day of the show (to match venue or artistic requirements) and have all dependent cues reflect the change automatically.
At the moment, it seems that modifying a base preset or using it in another preset breaks the reference system, which limits the flexibility of using presets as reusable building blocks.
Do you think there is a workaround, or is this a limitation of the current version?
Thank you for your help,
