Hmmmmm that*s interesting. I took a look into the forum backend to see, if you are listed as registered user. I can confirm, that this flag is set correctly. But I wrote to the DDFLib developer. Maybe, he has an idea, what the problem could be.

Hallo,

Hi, a few days ago, I started translating all DDF articles to english. I threw them on ChatGPT and started to fix the issues of this automatic translation. In addition also LightningBrothers fixed some of the text but not all of it. So some of the articles are not finally checked yet. However, they should give you a good basis for your work. You can find the current state here: https://wiki-en.dmxcontrol-pro…index.php?title=DDF_DMXC3
All the best

Hi,
now I had a little bit of time and started translating the wiki pages for DDFs (or at least throw them on a large language model and fixed the results so that they work in our wiki ). You can find the pages here: https://wiki-en.dmxcontrol-pro…index.php?title=DDF_DMXC3 They are not fully reviewed yet, but the current state should show you the syntax for the DDF XML and the important elements.
The reason why I rather translated those pages than give you some infos about the DDFCreator is that the DDFCreator is very old and outdated. It represents the DDF syntax of an old DMXControl 3 version (I think it is 3.0.2 or 3.1.x). Since then there were some changes in the DDF syntax and thus the DDFCreator sometimes generate not working DDFs. We could not find a programmer yet, who will rewrite it (all of our developers are already working on different topics). So I highly recommend you to use a text editor of your choice to write the DDF by hand (I normally use Notepad++ with the XML extension enabled).
I hope, this will help you. If you have any questions regarding the syntax, then you can ask it here.

Hi,
I would like to help you with your issues. But today, I have a lot of work to do so would it be ok, if I give you tomorrow evening (German Time ) a long explenation?

Hi,
unfortunately, there is no way to set the representation to % permanently in this window, because we did not put that much effort in the window The reason for that is that the channel view does not realy fit into the control concept of DMXControl 3. Maybe you already know but just to be shure we have the same understanding: One of the key features of DMXControl 3 is the hardware abstraction layer (or HAL for short). It provides an uniform user interface so that you can control all devices with their device properties (color, intensity, position,...) rather than the corresponding DMX values. You can even select different device types like LED fixtures and moving heads at once. Despite the fact that the most moving heads have color wheels and the LED fixtures have channels to control the individual base colors, you can still control both at the same time. The resulting DMX values will be generated automatically by the HAL with the HAL magic behind it. The user does not need to care about the resulting DMX values anymore and thus we mostly hide the DMX values from the user. However, this window shows exactly that, the resulting DMX values in different representations. Thats why the display setting in this window is set to the dec setting by default, because this shows the DMX values the best. We implemented this window to have a feedback while developing or debugging a DDF. It is not designed to be used during the show. This might be a tough fact for all users who came form a clasical DMX value based control getting used to the non DMX value based design of DMXControl 3 (it even was for me back then ). But we think, with the HAL it is much easier to control the devices. However, if I understand you correct, the kids need a way to see the current intensity of the devices, am I right? If yes, then you can use the stage view for that as well. There is an option to show the brightness of the devices with a % value in the device icon (here, the % representation is default). Just enable it in the options of the stage view window and it stays on. If the position of the devices on the stage view represent the real world position of the devices, you can even better see, which devices have which brightness. I hope, this helps you and the kids
JP
P.S.: I am a little bit curious what you are working on with the kids. I mentor a technical working group in my former school with kids in the same age to do the light and sound for different school events like theater plays
