Colorwheel and fade-in time

I have a couple of follow-spots that use 2 channels:
channel 0 is the color wheel (open - red - blue - etcetera)
channel 1 is the dimmer

I created the DDF for these (Chauvet 400G) since I couldn't find one pre-made.

I assigned channel 1 as a "dimmer" type with "yes" fade.
I assigned channel 0 as a "color" type with "no" fade.

The problem comes when I do a slow fade-in (say, 5 seconds). The dimmer works fine, but if I set the color to blue, for example, it appears that the color channel is also slowly fading in - going from open to red to blue instead of starting at blue.

How can I set up the DDF to NOT fade in (or fade out) the color channel and just hit the color at full blast all the time so that I don't have to step through other colors on my way to the desired color result?

Yup - I checked the two channels.
The "color" channel is set to "no" fade and the "dimmer" field is set to "yes", but it doesn't seem to make a difference...

How do I change channels that were originally set to "fade - yes" in scenes that are already recorded?
