Did you know? #11 - One Shot vs. Wait

Every cue in a cue list in DMXControl 3 has different triggers. They define, in which way a cue will be started. One of the triggers is the "One Shot" trigger. Did you know, that you can control the number of passes of effects with it? Initial situation is a cue containing one effect (e.g. a circle on the position property of some moving heads). In addition there is a requirement, that this effect should run three times. You could now calculate the duration of the cue (three times the effect duration) and add this duration time to the following cue with the "Wait" trigger or you simply use the "One Shot" trigger. For the second one, you have to add an empty cue (with no saved parameters) after the effects cue and set its trigger to "One Shot". Now you can control the number of passes with the trigger value. This ensures, that an effect passes the the number of times even if the duration of the effect is changed (editing the frequency of the effect). Beware, that the "One Shot" cue has no fade time or delay time. If a cue contains multiple effects with different duration times, the one with the greatest duration time will be used for the calculation of the cue duration.

In our video tutorial about the advanced cuelist trigger we also explain, how the one shot trigger works.
